TOCCOA FALLS - Toccoa Falls College has named Dr. Brian Shelton as Provost of the college. This new position is a senior academic administrator with responsibilities beyond the traditional academic sphere.

Dr. Shelton has served five years as Vice President for Academic Affairs and fifteen years as Professor of Theology and Church History at TFC. In his administrative role, he has overseen fifty faculty members and thirty-three majors and concentrations as academic dean. Over the last seven years, he has supervised an online program that grew from 30 students to over 150 online students this fall. Currently, the College has a diversity of majors in education, business, communication, humanities, social sciences, ministries, cross-cultural studies, counseling psychology, and music, with over 900 students residential, online, and dual-enrolled.

In his new role, Dr. Shelton will oversee the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing program targeted for January 2017. He will also prepare the college to evaluate the prospect of new graduate programs. Dr. Shelton will continue to identify new majors to service the growing career interests of traditional and non-traditional students.

“As the College looks to the future, I am excited about the leadership Dr. Shelton brings to the position of Provost,” says Dr. Robert Myers, President of Toccoa Falls College. “We believe our Christian mission and campus culture provide an exciting experience for students who want to integrate faith in the preparation of their career. A provost will help us solidify the internal structure needed to accomplish our mission.”

Dr. Shelton is a Georgia Governor’s Teaching Fellow and fellow of the Christian college and university Leadership Development Institute for Emerging Leaders. He continues to teach theology classes on occasion as part of the student-centered focus of the college.
