Two Hall Co. Christian schools to merge in 2016

By B.J. Williams
FLOWERY BRANCH - Two private Christian schools in Hall County have announced a merger.

North Georgia Christian School and Heritage Academy officials announced Wednesday the two schools will combine to become Lanier Christian Academy in the 2016-17 school year.

In an informational video on the new school website, North Georgia Board Chairman Al Gainey said the merger talks have been going on for about a year.

The school will be built on 140 acres of donated property on Poplar Springs Road in south Hall County. Until the campus is built, the Academy will hold classes at Chestnut Mountain Church beginning with the 2016-17 school year.

The new campus will not be built until a capital campaign can generate enough funding. Until that time, according to the web site, students will attend class on the current North Georgia Christian School campus at Chestnut Mountain Church on Winder Highway in south Hall County.
