GAINESVILLE - Three of the five people charged in connection with the murder of a Gainesville cab driver earlier this year have pleaded guilty to some of the charges facing them.
John Justin Adams, Nicholas Allen Gonzalez, and Ignacio Mondragon each pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to committ armed robbery, and gang-related charges. Murder charges against each of them were dismissed.
Adams and Mondragon were each given 30-year sentences by Hall County Superior Court Judge Jason Deal, with 15 to serve in prison and the remainder on probation. Gonzalez was given a 25-year sentence, with 13 to be served behind bars and the rest on probation.
They, along with Misty Moran and Margarita Jean Leanos, were charged in March in connection with the shooting death of Isaias Tovar-Murrillo. Authorities said at the time that Tovar-Murrillo had worked for Taxi El Palmar for 15 years. His body was found about 5:00 a.m. March 15 in the area of Barrett Road and Dorsey Peek Road near the Jackson County line. They said he had been shot in the head and that Moran is believed to have pulled the trigger.
