White Co. officials to host public safety and law enforcement job fair

By Dean Dyer, WRWH
CLEVELAND — White County Public Safety officials are hosting a Law Enforcement/Public Safety Job Fair next month.

The job fair will be held in the White County Administration Building off the Helen Highway on Thursday, September 3 at two times - from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and then from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

White County Sheriff Neal Walden said it's a challenge filling positions in the detention center, and he hopes the job fair will attract several qualified applicants.

"We feel we will be able to pull in some good, qualified people through the job fair, give them an explanation of what we do, what we are and what they can expect if they come to the White County Sheriff’s Office or White County in general,” said Walden.

"This fair will give people an opportunity to see what’s available and what they would be required to do," said Public Safety Director David Murphy.

Along with the Sheriff’s Office, the Detention Center, 9-1-1 Communications and Fire Department are all seeking applicants. The jobs at those departments are paid, full-time jobs. There are also volunteer opportunities at county Animal Control.
