Volleyball: GHS sweeps, North Hall goes 2-1 in quad match

GAINESVILLE -- Gainesville picked up a sweep, while North Hall went 2-1 in a quad-match on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The Lady Red Elephants (7-1) took out Flowery Branch (25-16, 22-25, 25-11), North Hall (25-23, 25-18), and host Chestatee (25-20, 25-20).

Gainesville was led by Abby Alexander with 10 kills and 13 blocks, while Sydney King added 33 digs, seven assists and seven aces. Sally Callahan had six aces and seven digs; Caroline Mercer had 10 digs and three aces; Morgan Frazier had five-and-a-half blocks and four kills; Tanji Miller had seven kills; Bessie Winston had five kills and three aces; Tanai Watson had 10 kills, three assists and three digs; Cori Griffith had six kills; Anna Wiley had four kills, two-and-a-half blocks; and Savannah Roys had seven aces, 38 assists and 26 digs.

North Hall, meanwhile, defeated Chestatee (25-4, 25-11), fell to Gainesville and took out Flowery Branch (25-10, 25-17).

Bly Belcher led the Lady Trojans with 15 kills, five blocks and 12 digs, while Makenzie Bryant had 15 digs and five aces. Lily Paschall also had 42 assists, three aces and five kills; Autumn Tucker had 20 kills; Melissa DeVerter also had six kills and one block.

Both Gainesville and North Hall play again in the Forsyth Challenge on Friday.
