Habersham BOE fills gaps headed into new school year

CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Board of Education has filled most open positions for the 2015-16 school year.

At a called meeting Monday morning, the board hired a classroom reacher, five special education paraprofessionals, two other paraprofessionals, a school nurse, a school nutrition assistant, two substitute bus drivers, and a security guard.

Those hired include:

• Richard Blevins and Earl Warren – Substitute bus drivers;

• Ashley Bogue – School nurse at Clarkesville Elementary;

• Tracey Clarke – Special education paraprofessional at South Habersham Middle School;

• Rachel Downs – Special education paraprofessional at Habersham Central High School;

• Taylor Grier – CTI paraprofessional at Habersham Central High School;

• Tosha Hooper – Special education paraprofessional at North Habersham Middle School;

• Jason Martin – Special education EBD [araprofessional at Level Grove Elementary;

• Tracey Means – Special education paraprofessional at Fairview Elementary and Level Grove Elementary;

• Heather Sparks – Fourth-grade teacher at Woodville Elementary;

• Myriah White – Kindergarten paraprofessional at Level Grove Elementary;

• Candice Williams Grier – School nutrition assistant at Cornelia Elementary; and

• Misty Wise – Security guard at Habersham Central High School (49-percent employee).

Additionally, the board accepted the resignation of Cayla Blackburn, a pre-k paraprofessional at Baldwin Elementary School. which was effective July 23.

The school system is still looking to fill a systemwide speech language pathologist job that officials say will be difficult because of a shortage in the specialty.
