Police make arrest in killing of man in Hyatt Place hotel

By Associated Press

LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) Police say they've arrested a suspect on a murder charge after a deadly shooting at a Hyatt Place hotel near Atlanta.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that 35-year-old Tito Ivey was apprehended in connection with the death of 32-year-old Franklin Jones. Gwinnett County Jail records do not list an attorney for Ivey who could be reached for comment.

Police say they found Jones shot to death in a top-floor hallway of the Hyatt Place near the Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Jennifer Liggons tells CBS 46 that Jones was her boyfriend. She said they have been homeless, and people had been helping them stay at the hotel the past few days.

Police were continuing to investigate what led to the violence.
