Gainesville financial advisor earns national recognition for philanthropy

By AccessWDUN staff

GAINESVILLE - Gregory V. Katulka, Senior Financial Advisor and First Vice President-Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch in Gainesville is one of three national finalists for the Volunteer of the Year Award from Invest in Others.

Katulka is being honored for his work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County, which will receive a $5,000 donation from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. If Katulka wins his category, the donation will increase to $20,000.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation established the Community Leadership Awards to recognize the philanthropic achievements of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world. Advisors are nominated by their peers for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others.

There are five award categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Global Community Impact, Volunteer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. Invest in Others received hundreds of nominations for the Community Leadership Awards this year. Finalists were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves.

Since 2009, Katulka has contributed countless hours to helping the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County provide high-quality after-school and community outreach programs for the 5,500 youth it serves annually. Over the past three years, Katulka’s leadership enabled the nonprofit to achieve more diversified financial growth, add new enrichment programs, and launch five new club sites in the Gainesville City School System to serve 200 additional at-risk youth.
