Clermont Councilwoman Lynn Adams resigns

CLERMONT - Clermont Town Clerk Sandra Helton said City Councilwoman Lynn Adams submitted her resignation to the city Thursday morning.

"She has served on the Council for two years; her term still has two years left," Helton said.

That development will necessitate a special called meeting to begin the process of calling for a special election to fill out Adams' term.

Helton said the council will meet Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Helton explained that three council posts are up for election in November and that the election to fill Adams' seat will be held in conjunction, but since filling Adams' seat is not scheduled, a special election ordinance must be passed.

Helton said a second reading on the ordinance will happen at the council's regularly scheduled meeting the following day. Qualifying for Adams' seat will parallel regular qualifying.

Of Adams' decision Helton said, " We've all worked well together. I just think her family was ready to relocate."
