By B.J. Williams

GAINESVILLE — A Gillsville man is awaiting a court hearing following his arrest in connection with an apparent road rage incident over the weekend.

Hall County authorities said 18-year-old Albert Renaud is accused of opening fire on another vehicle on Harmony Church Road on Saturday, July 11.

Deputy Nicole Bailes said the driver of the vehicle called 911 with a description of Renaud's tan Ford Ranger. Responding officers found the truck, pulled it over on Athens Highway and found a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

Bailes said Renaud was arrested after further investigation. He faces a long list of charges including two counts of aggravated assault, discharging a gun on the roadway and aggressive driving, among others. No one in the other vehicle was injured during the incident, according to Bailes.

Renaud remains in jail without bond.

Bailes said he has a committal hearing before a magistrate on July 27.
