Since we're 65 days away from the start of the Georgia football season, here's 10 Bulldog-related facts related to the number 65. I might throw a few more of these together before the season. Expect ones at the "big" milestones: 50, 25, 10, and 5.
1) Current player wearing No. 65: OT Kendall Baker (R-Fr.). The 6-6, 310 lb. lineman signed with Georgia in 2014 as a three-star recruit and sat out his first season.
2) Last time Georgia scored exactly 65 points: As best as my research can find, this has never happened. The Bulldogs came close in 2014, beating Troy 66-0 and Kentucky 63-31.
3) 65 years ago: The 1950 Dogs finished the year 6-3-3, including a 27-0 beatdown of No. 15 Mississippi State and a 12-10 win over Auburn in Columbus, Ga.
4) Mark Richt's 65th win: came against Ole Miss in 2007. The Bulldogs piled on 300+ rushing yards in a 45-17 romp in Athens.
5) Jordan Wolf: The 6-0, 217 lb. long snapper from Wheeler High School was the last Georgia player to wear the 65 jersey for an SEC Champion Georgia team. Wolf wore it for the 2005 season.
6) Aaron Murray's 65th touchdown pass: came in the third quarter of Georgia's 41-20 win over Missouri in 2012, spoiling the Tigers' entrance into the SEC. He hit Marlon Brown on an 11-yard strike to give Georgia a 24-20 lead.
7) The most passing attempts in a single game: Eric Zeier tossed the pigskin 65 times against Florida in 1993, a game the Gators won 33-26, otherwise known to Georgia fans as the "timeout game."
8) Wins against Georgia Tech: The Bulldogs' next win in the series will be No. 65. Georgia leads the series over the Yellow Jackets 64-38-5.
9) Speaking of Tech: The Bulldogs have had two game-winning drives of 65 yards against the Yellow Jackets. In 1971, QB Andy Johnson led the Bulldogs 65 yards in 1:15 for a 28-24 win, with RB Jimmy Poulos scoring the game-winning touchdown with :14 to play. In 1997, QB Mike Bobo found WR Corey Allen with :08 to play to cap off a 65-yard game-winning drive in a 27-24 contest in Atlanta.
10) 2003 win over Tennessee: Georgia's 41-14 win in Knoxville was the 65th win in program history over a ranked opponent. The Dogs were ranked No. 8 in the nation at that point, the Vols No. 13. Georgia has notched 30 more wins over ranked teams since then.
