Milliken and Co. to hire 60 temporary workers at New Holland

GAINESVILLE—Milliken and Company Friday announced plans to hire 60 temporary employees at its textile plant in the New Holland community in Hall County.

The announcement came from the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) and the Gainesville Career Center. There will be a career fair Tuesday, June 30 at 2:30 p.m. at the labor department's office on Atlanta Highway in Gainesville.

"The staffing company is recruiting warping, spinning, winding and slashing operators, along with creelers, packers and other warehouse workers. While these are temporary positions, they may lead to permanent employment with Milliken once certain requirements are met," GDOL officials said in a press release.

Applicants must be 18 years old, and no manufacturing experience is necessary, although a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.

Wages start at $11.41 per hour, and applicants will be subject to a background check and drug test.

Labor officials said applicants who attend the career event should bring a copy of their resume, and "dress appropriately to improve their chances for employment."
