Lake Lanier Olympic Venue to host wake surfing competition

GAINESVILLE—For the first time ever, the Lake Lanier Rowing Venue will hold a "Behind the Boat" wake surfing competition.

The event will be held July 11, and will be stop number six of the year for the INT League, listed on their website as the "Little League of Watersports."

"Last year we were in negotiations with Mastercraft regarding a much larger-scale wake boarding event that ultimately did not come to fruition here at the venue, but I am even more excited about this event because it will be on a much smaller scale and will allow us to 'get our feet wet' to see if these types of events are suitable for our venue," said Morgan House, Venue Manager.

House said these types of events will be good for the venue, since they will bring in other revenue streams outside of just the rowing events already held there.

The competition should start sometime in the 9:00 hour that morning, and it's free for spectators.

Participation in the event is $35 for children age 3-17 to register, and $40 for adults 18 and over, but also requires an INT League memebrship, which is $60 annually.
