Search for missing Dawsonville man in Dawson Forest continues

DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County authorities have been searching all week for a missing Dawsonville man in the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Satterfield said 50-year-old Quinton "Jimmy" Walls was last seen on Saturday, but was reported missing on Monday.

Satterfield said Department on Natural Resources Rangers found an empty truck near the Atlanta Tract of the forest, and traced it back to Walls' mother.

"She advised it was her son's vehicle, and he'd been missing since Saturday," Satterfield said.

Satterfield said they've been searching since then. Monday, we searched around where the vehicle was at, got the... K-9s, search and rescue dogs and were in the area around that park... but the dogs didn't hit on any source, odor, anything like that."

Satterfield said they ran more dogs on Tuesday, still to no avail. "Wednesday we brought in our mounted search patrol - a group that rides horses - and they rode all the trails. We did about a 10-mile radius around the park and rode all the trails and they were also on foot," Satterfield said.

"We put a few of our paramedics in [a canoe] at Highway 9," said Satterfield. "They floated all the way down to Kelly Bridge Road. Had my guys checking the banks and the water and seeing if they could find anything."

Thursday, Satterfield said another horse patrol group, and some search crews on foot, searched again. That night, Satterfield said they sent out a helicopter to see if they could find a fire, flashlight, or other indication of a person camping. but still, they found no sign.

Walls is described as a white male, about 5'9" and 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Satterfield said foul play is not believed to be involved, and Walls is not considered dangerous.
