Gainesville Councilwoman Bruner will run for re-election

By B.J. Williams

GAINESVILLE -  Gainesville City Councilwoman Ruth Bruner confirmed Saturday that she will run for re-election to her Ward 5 post.

Bruner was first elected to city council in 2003. She served as Mayor from 2010 to 2011 when that post was filled on a rotating basis among council members.

In a press statement, Bruner said she wants to be involved in a number of ongoing projects in the city, including the creation of a new downtown master plan and renovations to Roosevelt Square, a project discussed at this past Thursday's Gainesville City Council work session.

Bruner's term expires in December. So far, she has no opposition.
