DAHLONEGA -- One day after being eliminated from the playoffs, the Dawson County baseball team exacted a measure of revenge on its arch-rival Friday.

The Tigers got stellar pitching from Reed McAllister and J.T. Eggert in taking a 3-2 win over Lumpkin County on the road.

The loss for Lumpkin County (14-10, 11-7 Region 7-AAA) was its second straight and knocked the Indians down to the third seed in the region, giving the No. 2 seed to East Hall. Dawson County (9-16, 7-11) was knocked out of the playoffs on Thursday in a loss to West Hall.

McAllister went five innings for Dawson County allowing two runs to get the win. Eggert pitched the final two innings to earn the save.

The Tigers scored one run in the second on a Logan Crumley RBI scoring Levi Whitmire. They added two more in the third on a Dillon Heller RBI hit and got the eventual game-winning run on a bad throw by the Indians.

Lumpkin County trimmed the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the fourth but the Tigers were able to get out of a jam to keep the lead.

Lumpkin County will begin the Class AAA playoffs next Friday on the road against Jefferson, the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAA.
