MILLEDGEVILLE -- After winning the Peach Belt Conference regular season title on Saturday, the sixth-ranked University of North Georgia softball team will turn its focus to the PBC Conference Tournament as the Nighthawks enter as the No. 1-seed. The tournament will be hosted by Georgia College at the Peeler Complex in Milledgeville.

North Georgia comes in to the tournament in a familiar spot as the No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year; their third time coming in to the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the last six years. The Nighthawks enter the tournament ranked No. 7 in the nation with their 40-6 record and claimed the PBC regular season title. They are 21-1 in conference play and extended their winning streak to 21 games this season before falling to Armstrong. The Nighthawks have the lowest team ERA of any PBC school this season. North Georgia will play No. 8 seeded USC Aiken.

The Pacers enter the tournament at 11-13 in conference play and 22-16 on the season. USC Aiken takes the 8 seed spot after being locked in a three-way tie with Montevallo and Francis Marion. The three teams were all 2-2 against one another so their head-to-head records against the top-seeded teams came in to play. Montevallo defeated No. 2 seed Georgia College to grab the No. 6 seed. FMU and USCA then reverted back to their head-to-head matchup which FMU swept on Tuesday.

The winner of the North Georgia-USC Aiken game will face the winner of the Georgia Regents-Young Harris game on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the championship game being help later that day at 4 p.m.
