Uncle of injured toddler arrested again

DEMOREST - The uncle of "Bou-Bou" Phonesavanh -- the same uncle authorities sought in the drug raid that injured the toddler in May 2014 -- is behind bars once again.

Wanis Thonetheva, 31, of Athens faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine following his arrest over the weekend by agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Task Force.

Thonetheva has twice been convicted of selling meth in Habersham County, once in October 2013 and again in May 2014, around the time when Habersham County Sheriff's Deputies were searching for him.

Both convictions, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections Website, came with 10 year sentences, but Thonetheva was paroled after serving four months.

He was released on February 6, 2015.

Two months and 12 days later, Thonetheva was arrested, along with four others, following the raid on Chuck Wagon Drive in Demorest on April 18; more than $2,000 worth of drugs were seized from the residence.

Baby Bou-Bou's family, as we reported earlier, has reached a settlement with the county.
