Athens woman hit, killed by train

ATHENS - Authorities say a woman has died after being struck by a train in Athens over the weekend.

Athens-Clarke County authorities identified her as 47-year-old Juli Ann Vasenden of Athens. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that she was struck early Sunday.

Authorities say Vasenden was in a wooded area near Childs Front Drive and Lake Place Drive in Athens when she was struck by the CSX train. Athens-Clarke County police tell WSB-TV that she was not at a crossing at the time.

Officials said their investigation is ongoing.
