Public asked to purchase tickets to support injured Habersham deputy

CLARKESVILLE - Cpl. Bill Zigan of the Habersham County Sheriff's Office was critically injured when he was shot while on duty Feb. 22.

To help support Zigan and his family during his recovery, the sheriff's office is hosting a 2-for-1 Ruger .22 rifle raffle to raise funds. All proceeds raised go directly to benefit Zigan.

Tickets are $5 each and are available at the Habersham County Sheriff's Office, 1000 Detention Drive, Clarkesville, or at the front security desk of the Habersham County Courthouse, 295 Llewellyn St., Clarkesville.

The drawing will be held Friday, May 15, at the Habersham County Sheriff's Office.

The first ticket drawn will have first choice of one of the two rifles and the second drawn will receive the other rifle. Each rifle comes with gun oil, a cleaning kit and ammunition.

The ticket holders do not have to be present to win.

Forest Lane Pawn Shop made the guns and accessories available for this raffle, sheriff's office officials said.
