Baseball: Bennet leads Wolves past North Hall to complete sweep

By staff reports

GAINESVILLE -- Connor Bennet scattered five hits and struck out 14 to lead Buford to a 6-0 win over North Hall Friday at Jody Davis Field.

The win for the Wolves (16-2, 8-0 Region 8-AAAA) completed the sweep of the home-and-home series over North Hall (11-7, 6-4).

Catcher Joey Bart provided the early damage for Buford with a two-run double to highlight a three-run first inning. He added another RBI in a three-run sixth inning to put the game away for Buford.

“We knew that Conner would throw a really good game for us,” Buford coach Tony Wolfe said. “This is a really tough place to play but I thought our seniors stepped up and were really good (Friday)."

The Wolves battered North Hall starter Corbin Lewallen for 12 hits in his six innings of work.

Brandon Marsh had three hits from the leadoff spot Buford and added an RBI. Bart, Austin Wilhite, and Caleb Moore each had two hits. Wilhite and Moore had one RBI each for the Wolves.

Drew Coker had three hits for North Hall. Matthew Cox had two hits and Micah Strickland, Corbin Lewallen, and Lincoln Hewett each had one hit for the Trojans.

North Hall next will travel to Johnson on Monday to open a home-and-home series with the Knights.

Buford will play host to Madison County on Monday to start a home-and-home series with the Red Raiders.
