ELLIJAY - A wildfire in steep mountain terrain in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Ellijay is 95 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Spokeswoman Holly Krake says the 282-acre fire was reported late Wednesday and crews worked through the night to suppress it "using firefighters, engines, dozer line, and helicopter. "  Krake said early Thursday that with the fire almost contained crews were "conducting the remaining burnout operations this morning."

She added a number of agencies, in addition to the forest service, worked to contain the fire, located in Murray County about 12 miles northwest of Ellijay, including the Georgia Forestry Commission, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and local fire departments.
