CLEVELAND -- Truett-McConnell College announced Monday the hiring of Rob Miller as its new men's soccer coach. Miller joins Truett-McConnell after serving as the area director for the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy since 2011.
"I could not be happier to have coach Miller join our team and lead our men's soccer program," Truett-McConnell athletic director Stacy Hall said. "Coach Miller loves the Lord and is a proven winner. He brings a wealth of coaching experience and a passion for the game. His past teams have won numerous championships, and he has garnered a number of coach of the year honors himself. I have no doubt that our Men's Soccer program will be winning championships in the near future."
Miller has numerous years of collegiate coaching experience, including serving as head coach at Division II Anderson University from 2002-2012. While at Anderson, Miller coached his teams to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, which saw them finish as high as 14th in the final NCAA rankings in 2009. His teams amassed nine conference tournament appearances at Anderson and were named South Atlantic Conference regular season champions, as well as tournament champions in 2011.
Prior to accepting a position at Anderson University, Miller served as head coach at the University of the Cumberlands from 1995-2001. While at the Cumberlands, Miller's teams were named Mid-South Conference Tournament Champions in 1996 and Mid-South Conference Champions in 1998 and 2000. Miller amassed a career record of 192-136-19 while serving at Anderson and the Cumberlands, giving him a top 25 winning percentage among active Division II coaches.
In addition to his experience as a head coach at the collegiate level, Miller also coached all-star teams and helped develop Olympic athletes, serving as the U.S. All-Star Team head coach in the Outback games in Darwin, Australia in 2003. Miller was a member of the Kentucky Olympic Development Program staff from 1996-2000 and the Olympic Development Program head coach for the England Tour in 2004. He also served as a member of the South Carolina Olympic Development Program staff from 2004-2006.
Miller has over 14 years experience coaching club soccer, as well as serving as a high school coach for the TL Hanna High School girls soccer team and the Somerset High School boys soccer team. While coaching at Somerset, Miller's team won two District 27 Championships and a CKC Conference Championship.
Miller attended Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill., from 1986-1990 where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and a Bachelors of Science in Social Work. Miller was four-year varsity starter for the Nazarene men's soccer program. While serving as team captain in 1989, he was named first team Chicagoland-Conference and the first team District 20. He currently holds a National Diploma (1997), an Advanced-National Diploma (1998), and a Premiere Diploma (1999) from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Miller has served as a member of the NSCAA for over 14 years.
