Former head of Music City News, Gospel Music Assn. dies; was Gainesville native

CLEVELAND - A Gainesville native, LaWayne Satterfield, who at one time headed the Gospel Music Association and Music City News, has died.

Satterfield, who was 72 and living in Cleveland, died Thursday following a period of declining health.

Satterfield's chosen career field was journalism. She started it with what was then The Daily Times (now The Times) in Gainesville. In 1967 she moved to Nashville to become Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association, later became Editor of the Music City News, and owner of Imaged LT Public Relations Company.

The funeral will be at 3:00 Monday at Tesnatee Baptist Church.
