CUMMING - A 17-year-old from Forsyth County was killed in a single vehicle traffic accident near Cumming Wednesday night.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Robin Regan said Caleb Ammons was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed on Doc Bramblett Road at Milford Lane around 10:30 p.m.

"The vehicle left the roadway and traveled down an embankment and into somebody's front yard," said Regan. "As it traveled down the embankment, then it began to roll. It was vaulted through a pine tree and then it continued to roll a couple of more times before finally coming to a rest."

Regan said Ammons was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 1998 Honda Civic was 18-year-old Ashton Ciunowicz of Cumming. Regan said he was trapped in the wrecked vehicle and had to be cut out of his seat belt. Ciunowicz was taken to North Fulton Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Regan said drugs and alcohol were not suspected in the crash. He did not know if speed might have factored into the wreck. He said the FCSO Crash Investigations Unit was conducting the investigation into the fatal accident.
