By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - Once a firm job description is in place, the Hall County School Board will advertise for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the District.

Superintendent Will Schofield said after a Monday evening work session, the move has been in the works for awhile.

"We've been talking for at least a couple of years about our need for more capacity in our financial corner," said Schofield. "Our financial department in terms of certified individuals in our District is really Mr. Lovett and I - a position and a half."

Lee Lovett, the Deputy Superintendent of Operations, has worked for the District for more than 40 years; he would be responsible for training a new CFO.

Schofield said the management of the growing Hall County School District is a big financial responsibility.

"The General Fund budget runs a little over $200 million, but by the time you put federal programs, food service, the building program - we get up close to a third of a billion dollars per year," said Schofield.

Board members received an outline of job responsibilities for the position at the work session.

Advertising for the new CFO position could happen as early as March.
