GAINESVILLE - Hall County drug agents Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old woman who they said illegally obtained hydrocodone by using a prescription pad she had stolen from a doctor's office.

Lt. Scott Ware with the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS) identified the suspect as Ashley Ann Lee.

"She was charged with possession of hydrocodone - nine counts - and possession of a controlled substance by forgery - nine counts," said Ware.

He said he did not know if Lee used the drugs herself or if she distributed them.

Lee is believed to have illegally obtained the drugs with the forged prescriptions on or between April 20, 2014 and August 22, 2014, according to Ware.

He said MANS agents became aware of the situation and began their investigation about a month ago.

"A lot of times with these forgeries, they build up and they build up, and we play catch up and are able to track them down with a paper trail," said Ware.

Lee was arrested without incident in Jackson County.

Ware said the name of the doctor's office where the prescription pad was stolen would not be released.
