Sheriff's office settling in former Forsyth County Courthouse

CUMMING - As expected, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has a new, albeit old home.

With the opening of the new courthouse earlier this year, renovation work began on the former courthouse at 100 E Court House Square.

Called the Forsyth County Courthouse Annex, the building houses sheriff's office headquarters and Probate Court, eliminating the need for rental properties.

The sheriff's office is accessed through the front door on street level.  Probate Court is on the lower level and accessed by the rear door on the parking lot level.  The building hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

"Anyone visiting this building may park at one of the two parking decks in downtown Cumming. There is marked parking in the employee parking lot for visitors with disabilities who need to access this building." a sheriff's office social media post states.

Sheriff's office officials announced the department had moved on Sunday.

Services now accessed at the Forsyth County Courthouse Annex at 100 E Court House Square
  • Ordinances & Permits - Background checks, alcohol sales, solicitor permits, etc.
  • Civil Processing - Property seizures summonses, evictions, writs, temporary probate orders, protection orders, FiFas and condemnations.
