OAKWOOD — West Hall got its first Region 7-AAA win under new coach Zac Swansey Friday night taking a thrilling 63-57 victory over Franklin County at the West Hall gym.
In the first half West Hall 4-3, 1-1 Region 7-AAA) fell behind the Lions (2-6, 1-2) 19-13 after the first quarter. The Spartans battled back to take a 28-27 halftime lead holding Franklin County to just eight second quarter points.
The second half was nip-and-tuck the entire way with the score tied at 39 after the third quarter and then at 50 at the end of regulation. West Hall outscored Franklin County 13-7 in the overtime to pullk away for the win.
Xzavier Reid paced West Hall with 22 points. Esteban Ulloa had 14 points and Tyquan Statham finished with a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans.
West Hall next will play host to Jackson out of Atlanta on Saturday. Franklin County will play host to Stephens County on Saturday.
