Commerce outlets award annual TangerKIDS grants; Hall school among recipients

By For AccessWDUN
COMMERCE - Tanger Outlets in Commerce recently named five individual area schools as this year’s recipients of a TangerKIDS Grant. In keeping with Tanger Outlets’ mission to support the future of our children, the TangerKIDS Grants program is designed to award grant money to local schools in the communities where Tanger Outlet Centers are located. Grants awarded in this cycle are for the 2015-2016 school year.

This year’s recipients and respective special projects are:

East Jackson Comprehensive High School – Technology for Online Performance & Success (TOPS)
Sugar Hill Elementary School (Hall County) – First Grade Mall … Fun With Finances
Benton Elementary School – Benton News Room / Veteran’s Day Program
Jefferson Middle School – Book Sets (Biographies)
East Jackson Elementary School – Guided Reading Books Program

For every coupon book sold, Tanger has earmarked one dollar for the TangerKIDS Grants program.
Funding for TangerKIDS Grants ranges from $3,000 to $7,500 per center and may be split between multiple grant requests.

“A big part of our mission at Tanger is to contribute positively to the communities in which we operate,” said Steven B. Tanger, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are proud to once again give back to these remarkable schools and look forward to continuing our efforts to support students and educators across the country.”
The TangerKIDS Grants program is designed to assist schools in Tanger Outlets primary markets by providing grants for special projects, needed programs or equipment. Grants can also support groups within schools of all grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12. These grants are offered to multiple schools at each of Tanger’s 40 centers in the United States.  In the Commerce area invitations were sent early in the year to schools in the Banks, Clarke, Hall, Jackson, and Madison County school systems.  In all, a total of thirty grant request proposals were submitted for consideration.

Since the company’s inception, Tanger has dedicated efforts to assist students in local communities from pre-school through high school by raising money that is used to purchase books and supplies, computers and new technology, athletic and playground equipment, and to fund reading programs and educational field trips in addition to many other important educational projects.

To date, Tanger Outlets has raised and donated in excess of one million dollars to help children and schools succeed.
