Gainesville: Challenged Child & Friends celebrating 30th anniversary this week

By AccessWDUN staff
GAINESVILLE - Celebrating 30 years of service to area families, Challenged Child & Friends http://www.challengedchild.org will hold an Open House on Oct. 22 to give the community an opportunity to celebrate the history and success of the agency over the last three decades.

Former and current staff, students, donors, families, volunteers and members of the community are invited to visit, view old photos, share stories and memories, and hear from some of families and honored guests.

The Open House will be from 5:00-8:00. Challenged Child & Friends is located at 2360 Murphy Boulevard. The community is invited to bring their old photos and share stories from their experiences with Challenged Child & Friends.

“We hope everyone will come out and celebrate with us as Challenged Child & Friends reaches a milestone,” Executive Director Amy Gates said. “Over the last 30 years, CCAF has provided exceptional services to over 3,000 children and families and on Thursday evening we will celebrate with many in the community who helped us reach this milestone.  We look forward to meeting those families who were positively impacted by CCAF, those individuals who donated time and money, and to former staff who provided the services necessary for our students to succeed. We are hoping for a large turnout”.

Challenged Child & Friends has been serving children with and without special needs since 1985. The nonprofit preschool, which serves children from six weeks to age six, specializes in early intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities while including them in classes with typical kids - and serves families in Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Stephens, Union and White counties.
