RABBITTOWN — The East Hall girls volleyball team advanced to the second round of the Class AAA state tournament with a 25-5, 25-4, 25-10 sweep of Glenn Hills Wednesday.
The Area 7-AAA champion Lady Vikings (35-13) next will take Jefferson, the second seed from 8-AAA, in the second round at East Hall on Tuesday.
For East Hall, Minette Maldonado had 15 points. on serve with six aces, 12 kills and four digs and Jessica Chmiel had 14 points scored on serve with five aces, four kills and three digs. Savannah Thellman had four points scored on serve with one ace and 27 assists, Summer Lindsey had nine points scored on serve with two aces and seven digs, and Cassida Shockley had one point on serve with nine kills and one assist for the Lady Vikings.
Niyah Rucker had five kills and two blocks, Rachel McGee had three points on serve with two aces, three kills and two digs, and Holly Poole had 10 ppoints scored on serve with eight aces, two kills and four digs for East Hall.
