CLEVELAND — White County could not hold a 14-point lead as Stephens County rallied in the second half to take a 21-20 win over the Warriors Friday night in Region 8-AAAA action at White County Stadium.

Clancey Loudermilk had over 200 all-purpose yards for White County (1-5, 1-2 Region 8-AAAA) and scored all three touchdowns. Loudermilk scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter and then added a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter to help the Warriors build a 14-0 halftime lead.

But Stephens County (5-1, 3-0) got its ground game rolling after halftime rushing for 281 yards in the second half. A.J. Howard scored on a 4-yard run to get the Indians on the board but the extra point was no good as they trailed 14-6.

Hassan Brown later scored on a 20-yard run and the Indians converted the 2-point conversion to tie the game. The Warriors answered right back.

Loudermilk returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards to reclaim the lead for the Warriors 20-14 after a missed extra point. But Howard added a second touchdown run later and the Indians converted the extra point and hung on for the victory.

White County next will travel to North Oconee trying to stay in the playoff race while Stephens County plays host to Chestatee.
