Pilot killed in Pickens County crash identified

 JASPER - Authorities have released the identity of the pilot killed in a small plane crash in Pickens County Thursday.
 
According to Channel 2, 21-year-old Michael Hughes was killed in the crash. Hughes was a flight student on his third solo flight, practicing touch and go take-offs and landings when the plane crashed.
 
NTSB and the FAA are investigating, trying to determine what caused the crash, the television station reports.
 
The crash happened a half-mile away from the airstrip in Jasper.
