Hall Co. jailer claims he was fired for ministering to inmates

GAINESVILLE - A former deputy says he was fired from his job at the Hall County Jail for ministering to former inmates. <br /> <br /> His commanders said Josh McCuen was violating a policy against fraternizing with inmates or known criminal elements and he had been reprimanded for insubordination. <br /> <br /> McCuen told WSB-TV he recently started a Bible study group for former inmates and began raising money to put Bibles in every cell. He said a supervisor gave him the choice of resigning or being fired. <br /> <br /> The sheriff's department issued a statement to the television station, saying the supervisor did not make any reference to religious beliefs or actions, but McCuen cited it as a reason for his improper behavior. <br /> <br /> The department told the TV station it has religious services every week and makes Bibles available to inmates who want them. <br />
