Isakson named chairman of Senate VA, ethics committees

ATLANTA (AP) U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson has been named chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs. <br /> <br /> Isakson's staff said in a statement Wednesday that the committee will play a key role in making sure that reforms passed by Congress last year are put in place. <br /> <br /> Aides say Isakson's priorities as chairman will include oversight of the new Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, approved in response to a scandal over long wait times for veterans seeking health care and falsification of records to cover up delays. <br /> <br /> Isakson also was named chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.
