Bulldogs do it again: rally for win over Mill Creek

HOSCHTON -- North Gwinnett's John Urzua threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns and sparked another fourth quarter comeback for the Bulldogs, who rallied for a 51-41 win over Mill Creek Friday night.<br /> <br /> It's the second straight year the two teams have combined to score 90 or more points. North Gwinnett won last year 50-47.<br /> <br /> The offenses put on another show on Friday. There were five scoring plays of 62-yards or more and three of 76-yards or more in the game.<br /> <br /> It was a typical game for North Gwinnett (4-1, 2-0 Region 7-AAAAA) which fell behind on five separate occasions. The Bulldogs actually took the first lead on a 12-yard TD run by Jordan Frye less than minute into the game.<br /> <br /> And it stayed that way until the second quarter.<br /> <br /> Mill Creek (2-3, 1-1) would tie the game at 7-7 on the first of four rushing touchdowns by quarterback Daniel David. David would give the Hawks their first lead three minutes on an 80-yard scoring run but the Bulldogs would answer back on a 7-yard TD run by Kameron Pickett to tie the game at 14 three minutes after that.<br /> <br /> David, who had 199 yards rushing, would reclaim the lead for Mill Creek on his third scoring run of the quarter from 36-yards out but North Gwinnett responded 20 seconds later on a 76-yard TD pass from Urzua to Daniel Imatorbhebhe to send the game into halftime tied at 21.<br /> <br /> The second half would see six lead changes.<br /> <br /> Mill Creek took a 41-36 lead 17 seconds into the fourth quarter on a 64-yard TD run by Jonathan Hawkins, who finished with 221 yards on the ground. But North Gwinnett would not be outdone.<br /> <br /> The Bulldogs needed just 20 seconds to grab the lead for good on a 62-yard TD pass from Urzua to Kyle Knudsen for a 44-41 lead with 11:23 left in the game.<br /> <br /> Similar to last season's game, the North Gwinnett defense would stand tall in the fourth quarter holding Mill Creek scoreless the rest of the way. The Bulldogs would put the game away with 3:10 left on a 29-yard TD pass from Urzua to Josh Imatorbhebhe.<br /> <br /> Kenneth Hancock had three catches for 97 yards for North Gwinnett. Josh Imatorbhebhe had three receptions for 97 yards.
