Softball: Lady Wolves rally for win over Stephens County

BUFORD -- Class AAAA No. 1-ranked Buford had to rally from a rare deficit to knock off Stephens County Tuesday in Region 8-AAAA girls softball action.<br /> <br /> Stephens County jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning taking advantage of two Buford errors and a wild pitch to go with three hits.<br /> <br /> Lady Wolves pitcher Kennedy Kotula would settle down after that allowing just two runners to get into scoring position the rest of the game.<br /> <br /> Buford cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Deep and then took the lead for good in the second on RBI hits by Alexus Murray and Sydney Stavro. The Lady Wolves increased the lead to 4-2 on a RBI single by Drew Puckett in the third.<br /> <br /> Samantha Thomas capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.<br /> <br /> Kotula (6-0) went six innings yielding just five hits and two walks to go with three strikeouts. senior Bria Bush earned her first save of the season pitching the seventh with two strikeouts.<br /> <br /> Buford next will travel to take on Class AAAAAA No. 1 Lassiter on Wednesday.
