Zoning request for South Hall neighborhood tabled for third straight month

GAINESVILLE - For the third consecutive meeting, the Hall County Planning Commission tabled a proposed plan for a 36-lot subdivision on Hog Mountain Road near the Jones Creek Subdivision.

Ridgeline Land Planning, Inc. made the proposal for the 22-acre tract of land at the meeting July 7, and asked that the matter be tabled, saying they wanted to speak with neighbors about the development.

It was tabled again on August 4, and their request for a third consecutive hold was granted Tuesday night.

Hall County Planning Director Srikanth Yamala says the main reason for delay is that Ridgeline Land Planning is still working with Gwinnett County's planning commission, since the neighborhood will straddle the county lines (see photo).

"The applicant has been keeping us in the loop throughout, letting us know if [they need] additional time," said Yamala. "Pretty much, they've been tabling the exact same application at the Gwinnett Planning Commission."

The neighborhood would be a 36-lot subdivision that would be served by Hall County fire services and Gwinnett County water/sewage.

Yamala says there's a chance the matter will be tabled in October as well, but added that he hasn't received any negative comments or feedback from neighbors regarding the matter.

"[Ridgeline] just wants to see what Gwinnett County thinks before presenting again before Hall County," said Yamala.

The Planning Commission will meet again October 6.
