ATLANTA (AP) Atlanta police say they have arrested the mother of a 3-year-old boy believed to have shot himself in the face. <br />
Angel N. Douglas was booked at the Fulton County jail Friday on charges of reckless conduct and cruelty to children. The 22-year-old woman was arrested the day after her son was hospitalized with injuries from what police suspect was an accidental gunshot. <br />
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports police are saying the boy is in stable condition. Police say their preliminary investigation indicated the child may have been playing with the gun when it fired Thursday night. <br />
Police say in a news release that no bond had been set for the wounded boy's mother. It was not immediately known if she had an attorney. <br />
The Union County Fire Department in northeast Georgia said that the pilot who was killed in a plane crash Thursday in Pickens County was a volunteer firefighter who had serve with the department for more than a year and a half.
A number of college students who are not U.S. citizens are appealing a Georgia Court of Appeals decision that upheld the dismissal of their lawsuit by a Fulton County judge. The students are seeking a decision that they are entitled to in-state tuition at Georgia’s colleges and universities.
