ATHENS-Former University of Georgia football standout Elton Robert "Bob" Taylor passed away Thursday, August 7, at his home in LaGrange, Ga. He was 70.<br />
Among his Bulldog career highlights, Taylor was perhaps best known for scoring the winning touchdown to defeat fifth-ranked and defending national champion Alabama 18-17 in 1965, with the famous "Flea-Flicker" play. Before retirement, Bob was employed with Tenneco Company as a Motivational Speaker. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Taylor (Brett) Stewart; grandson, Brock Stewart; siblings, Beth Taylor McDonald, Jo Taylor (Dan) Payne, Mal (Lita) Taylor, Flor Taylor, Hope (Debra) Taylor, and Martin (Carolyn) Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.<br />
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange with Pastor Hope Taylor officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service time. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
