JEFFERSON - A house fire at 3187 Lyle Field Road in Jefferson on Sunday did heavy damage to a single family residence.<br />

Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said the fire was reported around 8:30 p.m.<br />
<br />
Nichols said responding crews found the two-story structure with heavy fire and smoke showing when they arrived. <br />
<br />
The owners of the house were not there at the time of the fire, but one resident was treated at the scene for breathing difficulties.<br />
<br />
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. <br />
