Tennis: Chestatee boys finish 8-AAAA tourney as fourth seed

DANIELSVILLE -- The Chestatee boys tennis team lost a pair of matches in Danielsville on Thursday, falling to Madison County, 3-0, and Stephens County, 3-2, to finish with the No. 4 seed from Region 8-AAAA.

In the late match Stephens County swept through the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches without dropping a set before Chestatee got on the board with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory by Logan Gruenenfelder and Ethan Kapiloff at No. 2 doubles.

Playing for the team to stay alive in the match, the War Eagles' Reed Johnson and Austin Passmore won a tight 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 match at No. 1 doubles to even the team score at 2-2. The No. 3 singles match also went to three sets as Stephens County's Faite Chatham came from behind to secure the team victory 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 over Chestatee's Barron King.

The War Eagles will travel to the home of the Region 6-AAAA champion in the first round of the state tournament next week.
