Level of Lanier highest since Jan. 1

GAINESVILLE - There hasn't been this much water in Lake Lanier in three-and-a-half months.

Continued runoff from 4-plus inches of rain on Monday in some of the areas that feed the lake pushed the level to 1072.02 as of mid-morning Wednesday.

It was 1071.85 at mid-morning Tuesday. (See earlier story. Link below.)

The last time the level topped 1072 was on January 1 when it was 1072.19.
