Gresham Motorsports Park opens 2014 season Saturday

By Staff
JEFFERSON - It will be all out, full throttle this Saturday when Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA opens its gates on its 2014 racing season.

Saturday's 'Stockerama' will feature six divisions of racing on both the GMP half-and quarter-mile ovals. Rotating events for the Outlaw Late Model, GMP Truck, Mini Stock, Renegade Street Stock, Front Wheel Drives and Sportsman Stocks will highlight the action.

"It's always exciting when you open a new racing season," said GMP general manager John Close. "In this case, we've got a new season and a new concept - Stockerama. It's an opportunity to give both our racers and fans more events than we've offered in the past - and also make them available at a lower price. We know it's going to take some time to build this program, but we're hoping the Stockeramas will be a big hit with racers and fans alike this summer."

The pit gates at GMP will open at 2 pm Saturday.

All drivers are reminded that an approved head and neck restraint system is mandatory for any on-track activity at Gresham Motorsports Park.

Meanwhile, the Grandstand and Trackside Parking areas will open for Saturday's Stockerama at 5 pm Adult grandstand admission is just $10 while Kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

Trackside Parking spaces for all 2014 GMP Stockerama events are non-reserved and sold on a first-come, first-served basis at $15 per spot.

"Combined with our new, lower concession stand prices, a family can come here and enjoy a night of racing, food and refreshments for less money than it costs to go to the movies and get a box of popcorn," said Close. "Our Stockerama events were designed to make local stock car racing affordable again. It's always been fun, now it just doesn't cost as much as it used to."
