ATLANTA - The state Department of Transportation has awarded an $18.8 million contract for the widening of State Route 20 from Samples Road to James Burgess Road in Forsyth County.
The 2.75-mile project will widen the now two-lane route to A four-lane divided highway with sidewalks. The contract was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting, Inc. of Marietta for $18.8 million with a completion date of November 30, 2016. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
Once the work is underway, a total of 7.53 miles of SR 20 will be under construction in three projects from James Burgess in Forsyth County to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County.
