Baseball: Dragons sweep Greene County in rout

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson opened its Region 8-AA season with a pair of impressive wins in a doubleheader over Greene County Friday night.

The Dragons (6-3, 2-0 Region 8-AA) won both games by identical 17-0 scores in three innings.

Micah Carpenter got the win in Game 1. Carpenter, Chandler Thompson, and Taylor Wilkes each pitched one inning and combined for seven strikeouts while allowing no hits. Wilkes had two hits and Hunter Thompson had three RBI in the win.

Ethan Garner got the win in Game 2. Garner, Trent Sorrells, and Jake Franklin fanned nine of the 10 batters faced combined. Will Breese had two hits and three RBI, Zack Boobas had one hit and three RBI, and Thompson had one hit and two RBI for the Dragons.

Jefferson next will play host to Riverside Military Academy on Tuesday.
