INK halfway to facility fundraising goal

By Derreck Booth
GAINESVILLE - Interactive Neighborhood for Kids is getting closer to its fundraising goal for a new state-of-the-art children's museum in south Hall County.

The non-profit must raise $2 million by next summer to take advantage of a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor. INK started its fundraising earlier this year.

"Many individuals within our community have now committed up to a million dollars to give to our campaign at this point, so we're halfway to our goal. We're so excited," INK Executive Director and found Sheri Hooper said.

Hooper said the nonprofit is optimistic it will reach the goal to move its facility off of Friendship Road.

"(It's) a very aggressive goal, but we decided to go for it because we believe in our kids and really want a better future for many children in our community, and we felt this is the best way to do it."

The museum is currently located on Chestnut Street in Gainesville.
