Dragon Con co-founder wants conviction thrown out

By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) A co-founder of the Atlanta science fiction convention Dragon Con wants his 2013 conviction on child molestation thrown out.

Ed Kramer pleaded guilty to three counts of child molestation as part of a December plea agreement. Authorities had accused him of molesting three under-age boys. The plea deal allowed Kramer to avoid prison time, but he was ordered to spend time under house arrest and on probation.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Kramer's lawyer Stephen Reba maintains that his client was improperly forced into the plea agreement.

Reba says authorities failed to provide medical accommodations so his client could stand trial, putting him in the position of being forced into the plea deal.

Kramer hasn't been involved with running Dragon Con since he was charged with the crimes in 2000.
