Meyer named new Post Commander in Cumming

CUMMING - Georgia State Patrol Post 37 in Cumming has a new leader - Sgt. Tim Meyer #156.<br /> <br /> Meyer, who has served as Assistant Post Commander at the Georgia State Patrol Post 32 Athens office since August 2012, has been promoted to Sergeant First Class. SFC Meyer is a graduate of the 77th Trooper School in 2001. He will mark 15 years with the department in February 2015.<br /> <br /> His career has taken him through assignments in Madison, Athens and Gainesville. SFC Meyer was promoted to Corporal in Gainesville, then to Sergeant in Athens. Meyer said he plans to build on the work the Cumming post already is doing. <br /> <br /> "I want to continue what is working well at the Cumming post," said Meyer. "I want to make sure we continue to increase DUI enforcement and work on decreasing fatalities."<br /> <br /> SFC Meyer said he also wants his troopers to focus on child and school safety.<br /> <br /> Post 37 has 10 sworn personnel who cover Forsyth, Dawson and Lumpkin counties.<br />
